Former parliamentary aspirant for Embakasi East constituency Francis mureithi, (right) and co-accused Francis Mwaura has appeared at Milimani law courts.
They were expected to take plea on Tuesday but magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot postponed it after Mureithi’s lawyer failed to appear in court.
Mureithi’s case was supposed to be consolidated with that of his brother Francis Mwaura who is also facing similar charges.
The two are expected to take plea afresh on a consolidated charge sheet in a case where they are charged with receiving Ksh 320 million from Eritrian national Maile Menkerios by falsely pretending they had a contract with ministry of defense to supply foodstuffs.
The court fixed Thursday, September 9,2021 as the date to take plea afresh after the politician informed the court that he could not proceed without his lawyer who he said was taken ill and could not attend court.\
Magistrate Cheruiyot warned Mureithi not to delay the case because he wanted more days for his lawyer to heal.
