The law society of Kenya presidential candidate Peter Wanyama has threatened to take on President William Ruto for attacking the judiciary.
Flanked by top lawyers led by city lawyer Danstan Omari,Wanyama has warned the president from attacking the judiciary and instead ask the head of state to follow legal procedures when solving problem.
“An attack to the judiciary is like killing the independent of institutions which are all protected by the 2010 constitution,and the president need to protect it.”Said Wanyama.
Wanyama who has declared to replace Erick Theuri as the lsk president ahead of the elections in February, has outlined a number of reforms in the society including seeking job opportunities to all unemployed lawyers.
In what appears to be a strategic plans to reform the organisation,Wanyama has also promised to ensure equal redistribution of resources to all the law society of kenya branches.
“We collect more than one billion as a society,but unfortunately some branches are lacking behind in terms of development because they receive nothing from the lsk kitty yet they play a major role in the rule of justice “Said Wanyama.
In what appears to be warning to all corrupt lawyers in the land sector, Wanyama has promised to work with the ministry of land and engage the minister incharge so that they come up with way of dealing with the manace.
“Once I assume office as the next lsk president,I will engage land minister Nixon Korir and come up with procedures that will see all corrupt lawyer are arrested and charged once found guilty in corruption deals”Added Wanyama.
Others who have declared interest as the law society of Kenya president that will be held on the 22nd of February including,Caroline Kamene, Hurriet Njoki Mboce among others.
