Publisher charged with Sh 250M fraud

A Nairobi businessman was today arraighned  in court and charged with stealing over ksh 254,000,000 by servant .

Cheekati Narasimha Rao who appeared before Milimani law court magistrate Caroline Nyaguthi pleaded not guilty to two counts including forgery.

He was released on a cash bail of Kenyan shillings three million or a bond of ten million with surety of similar amount.

The magistrate also ordered his passport to remain in court until the matter is Heard and determined.

While opposing for the release of bond or cash bail, lawyer Kimani Wachira for the complainant asked for turf or strong bond terms given that there has been numerous attempts by the accused to run out of this jurisdiction.

“We have filed an affidavit in court indicating how the accused has been trying to get of of this country on three occasions,in view of this we need stringent bond or bail terms “Said Wachira.

According to the first count ,it’s alleged that on the 1st of February 2016 and the 31st August 2024 within Nairobi city county jointly with others before court, being a servant to Printing Services Limited,stole two hundred and fifty four million , four hundred and sixty one thousand,Seven hundred and sixty -eight shilling (254,461,768),the property of Printing Services Limited ,which came to your possession by virtue of your employment.Read the charge sheet.

In the second count where Rao is charged with forgery,it is alleged that on 1st April 2010 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya,with intend to decisive,forged the signature of Malkiat Singh Dhillon on a letter of appointment prompting yourself to the position of production manager printing services limited limited, purporting to have been signed by the said Malkiat Singh Dhillon ,the managing director printing services limited.

The matter will now be mentioned on the 12th of March 2025 for pre tr6ial directions.
