A suspect accused of Swaping Sim belonging to former OCS Central Samson Talaam to solicit money from Kenyans has been detained for a week.

In an application tabled before court by the team of Investigators,it is indicated that the mobile activity of Talam Samson Kiprotich ,the former OCS Central Police Station,focusing on identifies International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI)and International Mobile Subscribers Identity (IMSI) across three dates 15th,17th and 19th June 2025.

Talam is being represented by Lawyer Danstan Omari.He has appeared before magistrate Benmark Ekhubi where the investors closed his file.

The former OCS is expected to be charged with murder.The suspect in Sim Swap claims is Kiprotich Ronoh.

He is said to have committed the offense of SIM swap ,phone change,and unauthorized access or misuse ,especially considering the device’s usage while owner was in police custody.

“A subsequent investigation revealed multiple changes in both IMEI and IMSI values,indicating potential SIM swap and device substitution;”added  IO.

Its said that on June 16,2025 :A successiful replacement was made by a subscriber from a different location and not langata police station where  Talam Samson Kiprotich had been detained.

A suspect linked to this act that saw Kenyans being solicited of their money has been arrested.

The suspect Kiprotich Ronoh Brian’s residence within Embakasi pipeline area house had 13 unused SIM Cards as indicated in the inventory and which are to be forensically examined.

While seeking to detain Ronoh,the police said they need more  time because recovered items are yet to be comprehensively analysed which will inform any other suitable charges against the suspect and which may include offenses under the computer misuse and cybercrimes Act of. 2018 and the penal code.

It is believed tgat the suspect has other associates/accomplices who are yet to be apprehended.The suspect has been detained for seven days.The matter will be mentioned  on July 28,2025.

The matter will proceed on Monday.
