A man accused of impersonating Cabinet Secretary for Information Communication Honorable Eliud Owalo has been detained for 3 days.
The police had sought a four days detention so that they can complete investigation, but Magistrate Bernard Ochoi granted them three days.
Calvince Otieno Odhiambo, the respondent is said that upon arrest on January 5, 2023 at Rongo, he was found with six mobile phones and several Safaricom and Airtel Sim Cards which were handled over to Investigation officer when he was booked at Kilimani Police Station.
The prosecution said that they intend to subject the recovered mobile phones and SIM Cards for forensic analysis to establish whether the postings were indeed sent from the exhibits recovered.
It is said that one of the recovered mobile phones is the one that was used by Otieno to post the facebook messages.
According to the office of the Cabinet Secretary, the facebook footage purported to make public promises of the nature that was not on the Cabinet Secretary’s programmes.
The police said that Odhiambo is yet to record statements and they also need to apprehend other suspects.
Through Investigating Officer Rinos Musungu, they further intend to rely on reports from the communications Authority among other things.
