Two University of Nairobi students charged with defrauding Rwandan of KSh15 million

Two University of Nairobi students have appeared before court over allegations of defrauding a Rwandan national of KSh15 million through a cryptocurrency investment scheme.

Jesus Godoua and Judith Mbatha denied the charges before the court.

Prosecution outlines fraud allegations

According to the prosecution, the two accused obtained KSh15 million from Tuyishime Grace by falsely claiming they could help her trade on the Binance cryptocurrency platform.

Investigators allege that the transaction took place at the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

Accused persons face criminal charges

Jesus Godoua is a national of the Central African Republic, while Judith Mbatha is a Kenyan citizen.

The prosecution maintains that the two acted together in carrying out the alleged fraud.

Court releases the accused on bond

After taking plea, the court released both accused persons on bond pending the hearing and determination of the case.

The matter will proceed to hearing on a date to be set by the court.
