A Nairobi lawyer who allegedly stole Sh7.9million from his client who had received the money as compensation was on Tuesday charged before court.
Charles Musyoki was accused of stealing Sh7, 954,443 being compensation award for Moses Mwendwa that was remitted to him by office of the Attorney general which he was to deliver to the Mwendwa.
He allegedly committed the offence on January 10,2018 in Nairobi while serving as an advocate of the High court representing Mwendwa.
He faced another count that on November 30,2017 within Nairobi city, with intent to defraud or deceive, he forged the signature of Mwendwa in a discharge voucher.
He purported that it was a discharge voucher signed by Mwendwa.
Musyoki also fraudulently uttered a forged discharge voucher bt presenting it to the office of AG for purpose of payment of Sh7.9million puropting it to belong to Mwendwa.
He denied the charges before Milimani chief magistrate Francis Andayi and pleaded for lenient bond terms.
He asked the court to be supplied with witness statements from the prosecution.
Anayi released him on a cash bail of Sh200,000 or a bond of Sh500,000 with a surety of similar amounts.
The case will be mentioned on May 11.
