Four men have been charged with stocking expired laboratory reagents against the law at Milimani law courts.
Augustine Kinyua, Mathew Kariuki, Nathan Mwirigi and Peter Gathendu appeared before magistrate Francis Andayi and denied the charges.
The court was informed that on diverse dates between January 1/01/2021 and 26/06/2021 at Scion Healthcare Kwa Njenga Laboratory in Embakasi within Nairobi County, with others not before court, willfully disobeyed Notice of Immediate closure duly issued by officers of Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board(KMLTTB).
On the second, Augustine and Mathews were charged that on similar dates and place at Scion Healthcare Kwa Njenga Laboratory in Embakasi within Nairobi County, were found stocking expired Medical Laboratory reagents which are AAST/GOT/BR opt against Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Act.
On the third count, Peter and Nathan were charged that on June 26, 2021 at Scion Healthcare Limited Laboratory in Kwa Njenga Embakasi within Nairobi County, they obstructed officer CI Amon Adiema and 87485 CPL Sanchan Lokadio, who were at the time of the said obstruction executing their duty namely collecting evidence.
Peter and Nathan were also charged that on June 26, 2021 at Scion Healthcare Limited Laboratory in Kwa Njenga Embakasi within Nairobi County, unlawfully resisted arrest from No. 236146 CI Amon Adiema and 87485 CPL Sanchan Lokadio, Police officers who at the time of the said resistance executing their duty namely effecting arrest.
They were released on Sh 30,000 cash bail or a bond of Sh 100,000.
The matter will be heard on July 13, 2021.
