The head of Forensic document examination section at DCI headquarters Mr John Muinde has pinned two medical employees of Nairobi Metropolitan service with child trafficking syndicate at Mama Lucy Hospital.
While testifying in the ongoing child trafficking case Muinde told Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu that documents produced in court as evidence had the signatures of the two accused persons namely Makallah Fred Leparan and Selina Awour Adundo.
‘The handwriting and signatures pointed by a marker in red ink on the exhibit marked A3 when compared with specimen handwriting and signatures of Fred Leparan on exhibit C6 and the handwriting of B1 and B2 were made by the same author’ Muinde told the court.
He added that the handwriting and signature are similar in terms of structural,size ,baseline habits,letter construction,particular point of pen,character construction ,pen pressure and connecting strokes.
He told the court that on December 21/2020 the forensic document laboratory at DCI received documents and exhibits for examination.
The documents are questionnaire release letters of abandoned babies from Mama Lucy Hospital,questionnaire release letter by Brian Kimeu and Morris Mwi addressed to children officer Embakasi sub-county,Register of abandoned children from Mama Lucy Hospital,Leave form of Fred Leparon and notification letter to children officer Embakasi ,Known writing and signatures of Selina Adundo and specimen handwriting and signatures of the two accused persons.
Muinde who has practised for over 19 years told the court that he has professional training in handwriting and signature from regional forensic science centre in Khartoum Sudan and from Interpol in France and Victoria Forensic labs and Melbourne Australia.
The two Medical Social workers Nairobi Metropolitan are facing charges of trafficking in persons contrary to the law,conspiracy to commit a felony namely trafficking in persons,neglect of a child among other charges.
They are alleged that on diverse dates between March and November 16th 2020 at Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi jointly with others not before court conspired to commit a felony namely trafficking in persons contrary to the law.
In the count of trafficking they are alleged on the dates betweenApril 30 and May 13 2020 at the said hospital jointly received and transferred three children aged three weeks,two months and eight days for the purpose of abusing the vulnerability of the child.
