A veteran Journalist Francis Ng’ang’a Gaitho has been arraigned in Court and charged with publishing false information contrary to the Law.

The prosecution accuses him of publishing false information and cyber harassment over his tweet in the Githurai and Rongai alleged massacres and missing persons.

The DPP informed Court that Gaitho on July 15, 2024 at around 2PM while at an unknown place using his X social media account @FGaitho237, intentionally piblished false information alluding that DCI had released the names and photos Jomaisu Khalisia as the so called serial killer in Kware Dumpsite.

Gaitho is accused to have proceeded to allude that there was no public records of the name of the alleged serial killer as published by the DCI but cross-refecing the image on the X reveals that the correct name of the said suspect was Jairus Onkundi a graduate from Meru University of Science and Technology.

Further, Gaitho is said to have proceeded to say that Government Propagandists like @ItsMutai and The Star Kenya have gone full throttle running unverified names which he said do not appear anywhere on Social Media.

“It’s the desperate move meant to pacify the restless masses who have voted threat Ruto must vacate office because he cannot kill us and lead us.The Githurai and Rongai massacres which are being supported by the corrupt mainstream and International media…” reads the charge sheet presented in Court.

Appearing before Magistrate Robinson Ondieki at Milimani Law Courts, Gaitho denied the charges and was released on Ksh 30,000 cash bail.
