Court will make a Ruling tomorrow on whether to detain 5 police officers accused of aiding escape of 13 suspects.

Investigation officers are seeking to detain five police officers alleged to have aided escape of 13 remands who were in custody for various offenses.

They want the court to detain Officer Ronald Babo,Evan’s kipkurui,Mollent Achieng,Zachary nyambuto and Gerald Mutuku for two weeks pending the conclusion of investigations.

In affidavit filed by Officer Benedict Kaulu,the five are said to be police officers stationed at Gigiri Police Station.

“The respondents were arrested after the escape of 13 remands who were in custody for various offenses and investigations has been commenced to establish if they had a hand into the escape of the prisoners,”added Kaulu.

The Io added that the five were on duty the day the prisoner’s escaped being as follows, Babo was the duty NCO,Kipkurui was the cell Sentry,Achieng was the station guard together with Nyambuto and Mutuku was the report office personnel.

Kaulu while making an application to detain them before magistrate Martha Nanzushi said that the investigations in the matter are not yet complete.

He added that they are still investigating the recording of statements from over 5 witnesses their mobile phones and CCTV footage.

Kaulu also told the court that there are other accomplices who are at large and the five have indicated their willingness to lead to their arrest which will be defeated should the respondent be released at the moment.

He requested for custodial orders pending the investigations.

Ruling tomorrow at 9am.
