Two detained for 4days for Impersonating PS Interior Raymond Omollo.

Two  Kenyans have been detained for four days for impersonating  Principal Secretary, Ministry of Interior Raymond Omollo.

They have been detained after Magistrate Dolphina Alego allowed an application by Director of Criminal Investigations to detain them as they complete investigations.

The two,Dennis Kipchumba and Pikei Winstone Gilbert are sai to have opened a social media account pretending to be PS Omollo with intentions of defrauding the public.

Court has been informed that they have been  using the said WhatsApp group to request for some token from members of the public majorly from Luo Nyanza pretending they could facilitate them secure some government Jobs.

When PS Omollo has said that he received complaints from the public about the WhatsApp group,he says that he was surprised because he didn’t have such WhatsApp page and no day he had created a page to try and obtain money  from members of the public.

They were  arrested on November 2, 2024 at Subaru field in the outcast of Eldoret Town.

In that fake account,they are said to have been using a PS Omollo’s picture.

In pleading with the court to allow the application, CPL. Evans Onsomo informed said the suspects are flight risk since it has them a week to smoke them out from their hide out.

The Court allowed the application and ordered the suspects to be detained at Capitol Hill Police station until November 8, 2024.
