Two media impostors charged in court.

Two media imposters have been charged at Milimani Law Courts with giving false information against the law.

The two Thomas Ochieng Owino and Fred Odanga Azelwa appeared before magistrate David Ndungi and denied three counts of giving false information, forgery and uttering a false document contrary to the law.

They were charged that on July 9, 2021 at Kenyatta International Convection Centre in Central Sub County within Nairobi County Sub County within Nairobi County informed James Maina Macharia a person employed in the public Service as a media relations officers at the Senate of Kenya that you were members of the Media Council of Kenya, information they knew or believed to be false.

They are said to have intended to cause James Maina Macharia to allow them to enter the premise of Kenyatta International Convention Centre which ought not to have done.

Odanga was also charged in the second count with forgery against the law. They were accused that at Unknown date and place within Nairobi County, with intent to deceive forged a certain media card purporting to be a media card from the Media Council of Kenya.

In the last count, Odanga was charged with uttering a false document contrary to section 353 of the penal code.

He was accused that on July 9, 2021 at Kenyatta International Convention Center in Central Sub County within Nairobi County, knowingly and fraudulently uttered a forged Media Card purporting to be the media card from the Media Council of Kenya to James Maina Macharia.

The accused pleaded with the court to be released on bail saying that they are operating online content and not members of media council.

They were released on Sh 50,000 cash bail. The matter will be mentioned on October 8, 2021.
