The Prime Suspect Behind Forest Road Woman’s Sexual Assault has been detained for 10 days.

Zacharia Nyaora Obadia has been detained after the court granted the prosecution their application to detain him.

He is being investigated in the case of robbery with violence and sexual assault.

The prosecution said they want more days to continue with investigations to bring the perpetrators on book.

Inspector Lyvonne Mwanzia from DCI Gigiri who is conducting General Investigation said this matter is of public interest.

She said that the matter was reported by a diplomat working with World Food Programme Gigiri.

The said case was reported in Park-lands 7/3/2022.She added that the suspect was captured on a video in social media assaulting the victim and since the incident he went into hiding.

The court was informed that the suspect was arrested in 14/ 3 in Isabania border while trying to cross to the next county.

He was arrested and brought to Gigiri at 10pm. They added that the court Investigations are ongoing and the suspect is a flight risk as he was arrested trying to escape .

She added that they want to collect evidence and recording statements from other witness and they needs time to interrogate the suspect and have the phone checked through a forensic analysis.

They want the time to go through the CCTV footages that were near the place of the incident.

They also need more more time to capture another suspects who haven’t been arrested.

They requested the court to have the suspect brought to court the same day with the others who were arrested,on 24/3 after investigations.


They said the suspect was just taken a photo on his line of duty and he saw himself on the TV thus decided to escape.


The suspect detained is detained at Gigiri till 24/3 when the case will be mentioned.
