The Directorate of Criminal Investigations files an affidavit before a Nairobi Court seeking to oppose bond for three ‘Mchele’ suspects stating that the three are flight risk.
According to the DCI, the three; Everlyne Wambui Mutura, Janet Wanjiru Ngungi and David Wanjogo Kariuki on March 20, 2023, went to DJ Club Kimbo junction along Thika road where they found a man drinking from a lonely table.
They requested to share the table with him, a request positively welcomed by the man.
Some minutes past midnight, Everlyne Wambu Mutura proceeded to engage the complainant in the case, and being a lady, the man failed to resist the advances. Little did he know that she was in the process of spiking his drink with the motive of robbing him.
The complainant in the matters informed the DCI that he woke up the following day at 8:00 am only to find himself on the passenger seat of his car.
He then called for help and was taken to Bellevue South Hospital where he was treated and placed on 12 hours observation. He was later discharged after fully regaining his consciousness.
After regaining conscious, he discovered that his two phones, two debit cards for ABSA accounts, wristwatch and his National ID were missing.
He alerted his bank and the bank discovered that there were series of withdrawals from both accounts amounting to Ksh 1,154,081.
Further, the suspects withdrew Ksh 19,000 from his Mpesa account and took Ksh 15,000 from his wallet.
The suspects were later arrested in possession of National IDs belonging to other persons and several sim cards.
