Two Congolese Nationals in Sh27M gold fraud detained till Tuesday next week.

Two Congolese Nationals have been charged at Milimani Law Courts with Sh 27M gold.

The two Mathieu Bayindu Patsamu and Marcelin wa Nyanguangi Bruce appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina and denied two counts of fraud.

They were charged that on diverse dates between January 8, 2023 and April 5, 2023 jointly with others not before the court, conspired to obtain USD 214,500 equivalent to Sh 27,583,000 from Tophead Vision Company of Seoul,Korea.

They were charged in another count with obtaining money by false pretenses against the law.

The two were charged that on similar dates and place, they obtained from the said company 175KGs of gold from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through Nairobi and that the same was being held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on transit to seol, Korea Vide Turkish Airlines Airway Bill knowing it was false.

Through lawyer Ishamel Nyaribo, the two pleaded with the court to be released on favorable terms.

Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji opposed their release.

Haji through prosecutor Anderson Gikunda opposed the release of Mathieu Bayindu Patsamu and Marcelin WA Nyanguangi Bruce arguing that the two foreigners are a flight risk.

They were detained till April 18, 2023 where they will know their fate on whether they will be released on bail.
