Seth Okute and Bruno Otieno has appeared before magistrate Susan Shitubi of milimani law courts for the hearing of Sh 12M gold fraud case..

They have been charged with defrauding American trader Marjorie Grant of Sh12.7 million in a fake gold deal.

The case was scheduled for hearing on October 16 and 17 but had to be adjourned to February 29, 2024, because Grant did not show up in court. The prosecution said Grant is an American citizen and was not in the country because she was not aware the case was coming up for hearing.”We pray that the court gives her the benefit of doubt and grants the prosecution another hearing date,” the state said.Milimani chief magistrate Susan Shitubi allowed the request.”The court has been informed that the complainant lives in the US and was not properly informed about this hearing. We adjourn to allow him to be bonded so he can come and give his testimony,” the magistrate ruled. It was the second time the case failed to proceed.
