Congolese National Charged with Sh 5M Gold fraud.

A Congolese National has appeared before a Kibera court and charged with Sh 5.5M gold fraud.
Assani Elolo alias Chairman has been charged with defrauding an Australian Citizen pretending to be able to supply him gold from Kenya to Dubai.
He appeared before Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Monica Maroro where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court heard that the accused person defrauded Shelan Kelvin Michael the said amount on diverse dates between July 26 , 2023 and August 8, 2023 in Kilimani area within Nairobi County.
The accused person had promised to supply the complainant with three kilogrammes of gold bar from Kenya to Dubai a fact he knew was false.
In court the accused person through his lawyer pleaded for a lenient bond terms.
He told the court that he is married to a Kenyan and he was not a flight risk.
He also told the court o supply him with all the witness statements and documentary evidence that the prosecution intended to use during the entire case.
The prosecution told the court to release the accused person on tough bond terms claiming that the offence was serious.
The magistrate released him on Sh1 million bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh350,000.
