Four people have been charged with Sh 13M diesel fraud.

Douglas Macharia Maina, Dominic Kimotho, Enan Njuguna Mweha and Lewis Musau Masaku appeared before magistrate Bernard Ochoi and denied the charges.

Court was informed that on diverse dates between November 23,2023 and December 20,2023 within Nairobi County in republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before court, conspired to steal seventy thousand liters of diesel worth Sh 13,580,000.

They were charged with stealing contrary to section 268(1) as read with section 275 of the penal code.

They faced an alternative count with handling stolen goods contrary to the law.

Macharia  was charged that on similar dates and place at 360 Energy Komarock Petrol Station within Nairobi County, otherwise than in the course of stealing ,dishonestly received or retained thirty thousand liters of diesel worth Sh 5,820,000 knowing or having reason to believe that they were stolen goods.

Kimotho was charged that on diverse dates between 23, November 2023 and December 20, 2023 at Trojans Petrol station Kiboko in the republic of Kenya, otherwise than in the course of stealing, dishonestly received or retained ten thousand liters of diesel worth Sh 1,940,000 knowing or having reason to believe that they were stolen goods.

They were released on a Sh 2M Bond or a cash bail of Sh 500,000.
