- Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Mohammed Echesa who was recently appointed by the Head of State to head a parastatal is again back in court over Sh 250M fraud.

Echesa together with his co- accused Joseph Lendrix Waswa were arraigned before Kibera law court Nairobi and pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud , contrary to section 317 of the penal code.
Waswa has an active criminal matter at Milimani law court where he was charged with several counts on allegations of defrauding a foreigner millions of shillings in the pretext that they were in a position to sell to the complainant gold.
In the charge sheet presented before the trial court , it is alleged that thet wo accused Echesa and Waswa jointlywith others not before the court with intend to defraud,they accused Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa of kidnapping Rashid Mohammed Echesa and demanded from the said Governor huge sum of money 250,000,000 million Kenya shillings in order to drop the alleged false accusations against the complainant.
The accused who were arrested on 28th March year 2024 were released on a lenient cash bail of 500,000 Kenyan shillings pending trial of the criminal matter.
