Warrant of arrest issued against Juja MP George Koimburi.

A court has issued a warrant of arrest against Juja MP George Koimburi and two others after they failed to appear for plea taking.

The prosecution told the court that Koimburi failed to attend the session before Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi.

As a result, the prosecution applied for a warrant of arrest.

Koimburi faces conspiracy to defeat justice charges

The prosecution has charged Koimburi and six others with conspiracy to defeat justice contrary to Section 117(c) of the Penal Code.

The accused persons include Peter Kiratu Muhia, David Macharia Gatana, Cyrus Kieru Muhia, Grace Nduta Wairimu, and two others identified as Peter and Njuguna alias Njugush.

The prosecution alleges that the accused committed the offence on May 25, 2025, at Mugutha area in Juja Sub County, Kiambu County.

According to the charge sheet, they planned and staged Koimburi’s alleged abduction to prevent his arrest.

MP linked to alleged fake abduction

Authorities had planned to arrest Koimburi and present him before Kiambu Law Courts over alleged land fraud charges.

This followed directions from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) through letter reference ODPP/HQ/CAM/13/475 dated May 20, 2025.

The prosecution stated that Koimburi was expected to answer four charges related to land fraud.

Police accuse suspect of giving false information

The accused persons also face a charge of giving false information to a person employed in public service contrary to Section 129(a) of the Penal Code.

The prosecution accuses Peter Kiratu Muhia of reporting at Mugutha Police Station on May 25, 2025, that unknown masked individuals had abducted Koimburi.

The report claimed that the alleged abduction happened after Koimburi attended a church service at Full Gospel Church in Mugutha.

Police officer Nelly Kabuu recorded the report through Occurrence Book Number 21 of 2025.

However, investigators say the information given to police was false.

Koimburi accused of publishing false information

Additionally, Koimburi faces accusations of publishing false information contrary to the law.

The prosecution alleges that on June 7, 2025, he issued a press release through his YouTube account claiming that criminals had abducted and tortured him.

According to investigators, Koimburi knew the information was false and intended to cause panic among members of the public.

The court released the accused persons on Sh300,000 cash bail.
