The court issued the warrant after Onsomu failed to appear and answer charges of obtaining more than Sh2 million through false pretences.
The development adds to the ongoing Daniel Onsomu fraud case before the Kibera Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Court issues arrest warrant
Court records show that Onsomu has missed court proceedings since June 11, 2026.
The court issued an arrest warrant after his continued absence.
On June 24, the court issued another warrant after he failed to attend a scheduled mention.
The court directed the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Lang’ata Police Station to arrest Onsomu and present him before the court.
Onsomu faces Sh2 Million fraud charges
Prosecutors accuse Onsomu of obtaining Sh2.05 million from Daniel Nyakundi Osiemo.
They allege that he received the money between September 8 and October 6, 2022.
According to the charge sheet, Onsomu claimed he could help Osiemo obtain information about a parcel of land.
Prosecutors say the claim was false and that Onsomu knew it when he received the money.
Lawyer requests court adjournment
Onsomu missed the latest court mention.
His lawyer, Mose Nyambega, asked the court to postpone the June 24 proceedings.
He cited a knee injury that he suffered in an accident.
In a letter dated June 22, Nyambega told the court that he could not walk and attend the proceedings.
Previous fraud allegations
The Kibera case adds to Onsomu’s previous legal challenges.
In 2022, prosecutors charged him before a Makadara court over similar fraud allegations.
They accused him of obtaining money from individuals seeking political and employment opportunities.
In one case, prosecutors alleged that Onsomu obtained Sh120,000 from MCA aspirant Ruth Kemunto.
They claimed he promised to help her secure a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination ticket before the General Election.
Prosecutors also accused him of obtaining Sh137,000 from Sophia Gacheri.
They alleged that he claimed he could help her join the National Police Service.
Onsomu denied the charges.
The court released him on a cash bail of Sh100,000.
NEDP leadership controversy
Onsomu’s name also appeared in a political dispute involving former Nairobi Governor and NEDP party leader Mike Sonko.
Sonko suspended party activities after allegations that some officials, including Onsomu, had requested money from aspirants seeking party opportunities.
Case to return to court
The court will mention the matter on July 23.
During the session, it expects a progress report on efforts to trace and arrest Onsomu.
