The court took the action after Onsomu failed to appear and answer charges of obtaining more than Sh2 million by false pretences.
Court issues arrest warrants
Court records show that Onsomu has missed court proceedings since June 11, 2026.
His absence prompted the court to issue the first warrant of arrest.
On June 24, the court issued another warrant after he again failed to attend a scheduled mention.
Fraud charges against Onsomu
Prosecutors accuse Onsomu of fraudulently obtaining Sh2.05 million from Daniel Nyakundi Osiemo.
They allege that he received the money between September 8 and October 6, 2022.
According to the charge sheet, Onsomu claimed he could help the complainant obtain information about a parcel of land.
The prosecution argues that this claim was false.
Prosecutors also allege that Onsomu knew the representation was untrue when he accepted the money.
Advocate seeks adjournment
Onsomu failed to attend the latest court mention.
His lawyer, Mose Nyambega, wrote to the court seeking an adjournment.
In the letter dated June 22, Nyambega said he had suffered a knee injury in an accident.
He informed the court that he could not walk or attend the proceedings.
The court declined to halt the case.
Instead, it directed the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Lang’ata Police Station to trace Onsomu and present him before the court.
Previous fraud cases
The Kibera case adds to Onsomu’s legal challenges.
In 2022, prosecutors charged him before a Makadara court with obtaining money by false pretences.
They alleged that he collected money from people seeking political and employment opportunities.
In one count, prosecutors accused him of obtaining Sh120,000 from MCA aspirant Ruth Kemunto.
They claim he falsely promised to help her secure a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination ticket before the General Election.
Prosecutors also accused him of obtaining Sh137,000 from Sophia Gacheri.
They alleged that he falsely claimed he could help her secure recruitment into the National Police Service.
Onsomu denied all the charges.
The court released him on a cash bail of Sh100,000.
Political controversy
Onsomu’s name also appeared in a political dispute involving former Nairobi Governor and NEDP party leader Mike Sonko.
Sonko suspended party activities after allegations emerged that some officials, including Onsomu, had solicited money from aspirants seeking opportunities within the party.
Next court mention
The court will mention the case on July 23.
During the session, it expects to receive a progress report on efforts to trace and arrest Onsomu.
