Former MCA for East Wanga Zaid Shaban Oteng’o has been charged with Sh 16M fraud at Milimani law courts.
Shaban who is using three different names to committ the offense,Zaid Shaban Oteng’o, alias Zaid Shaban Etiangi Oteng’o Alias Zaid Shaban Otengo has appeared in court and denied one count of fraud.
He was arraigned before Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe where the court was informed that he committed the offense on diverse dates between August 2016 and November 2018.
The former legislature is accused of fraudulent tricking and influencing Mahamoud Zaid Suleiman to pay a sum of money which is 16,746,000 to him.
He pleaded with the court to be released on favourable cash bail saying he is not a flight since he has been a public official.
The accused has been released on Sh 700,000 cash bail or a bond of Sh 2Million.
Soon after he was released he started making calls to his friends and relatives to help the raise the cash bail.
He is said to have obtained the money from the vitim to build him a house but did not.
He is claiming that he is the one who lost the money from the victim and he had complained to the authorities 10 years ago.
The Mca says he is being frustrated politically.
The investigations Started in june this year where he was arrested and brought to DCI headquaters Nairobi for questioning.
He is from Mumias East,Kakamega County.
