A matatu businessman has been charged with defrauding a woman Sh 3.8 Million by pretending that he would help her get recruitment slot at Kenya National Police Service.

Johnstone Mutua Ndelo was charged that between February and May 2021 in Nairobi with intent to defraud,obtained ksh3.8 million from Rose Adhiambo Odido by falsely pretending that he was in a position to help her secure employment slots during the Kenya National Police Service and Kenya Defence Forces recruitment exercises.

The man denied the charges before magistrate Francis Andayi.

Police file indicates that the complainant confirmed the recruitment had been advertised in the newspaper. Later that day, the accused told the complainant that he had three slots that traded at ksh300,000 each.

The complainant who had three relatives in need of the job went ahead and gave the accused ksh900,000. The accused person would ask her for more money citing various logistical issues.

He was released on Sh 300,000 cahs bail
