Court Orders embattled policeman Ahmed Rashid to undergo a medical examination ahead of his plea taking

A Nairobi court has ordered an embattled policeman Ahmed Rashid to undergo a medical examination before he pleads to the charges.

Judge Kanyi Kimondo ordered Rashid Ahmed, a police officer who allegedly shot and killed two boys in Eastleigh has been ordered to surrender to DCI Garissa Township.

Justice Kanyi Kimondo said upon surrendering to DCI, he be escorted to Nairobi before he is taken to Mathare Mental Hospital for psychiatric examination.

His lawyer Danstan Omari informed the court that his client was unable to attend the court in person because of family engagements.

He said his client would abide with the directions issued by the court.

The matter would be mentioned on 8th of February 2023 before plea taking on 9th February 2023.

The judge further directed that failure to comply with directions a warrant of arrest will be issued automatically.

Omari said that IMLU has disclosed the ID of his client which is an affront of his rights.

The accused is alleged to have shot Jamal Mohamed and Dahir Kheri on 31st March 2017
