10 suspects in Sh 67M Gold scam to know their fate on March this year.

A Nairobi court has set March 6,2023 as the date when 10 suspects linked with gold fraud will know whether they will be charged.

This is after the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) recalled their file against eight Kenyans, one Greek and one Indian national.

They are Samuel Wathika Gathuru who is identified as a police officer, Moses Otieno Oketch, Patroba Odhiambo Tobias, Elisha Mbadi Kimbero, Teddy Samora Kowino, Loaennis Kaisarios, Mugabe Patrick Biriko, Seth Steve Okute, Bruno Otieno Oliende and Collins Kiprotich Langat.

Okute and Oliende were charged in another court with obtaining  from Marjorie Grant  USD 100,000 equivalent to Sh12.7 million by falsely pretending that Newsky’s Global cargo Movers Intern Ltd were in a position to pay custom duties for 33 kilograms of gold shipped from Burkina Faso.

Samuel Wathika was also charged with possession of firearms without license contrary to the law, where he pleaded not guilty.

Those charged with conspiracy were released on Sh 600,000 bond or one contact person and the charge for firearm’s, the accused was released on Sh 200,000 cash bail plus two contact persons.

The matter will be mentioned on March 6/2023
