A man in Sh 2.3 M Gold and Diamond scam detained for escaping courts Jurisdiction.
A man charged with defrauding a Woman of Sh 2.3M gold and Diamond scam has been detained.
Appearing before Magistrate Susan Shitubi of Milimani Law Courts,Viral Amritlal Pattni was detained for having escaped from court Jurisdiction.
The director of public prosecution applied to court to have bond and bail issued in favour of a businessman of Asian origin cancelled, and he be remanded in prison pending trial.
The reason for determination was that the accused after comming the offense,he escaped from the jurisdiction of the court.
The court was told that the accused upon taking plea he failed to appear in court for trial, and subsequently, the warrant of arrest was issued, and it has taken 7 months to have him arrested.
The prosecution further submitted that the accused produced to court fake medical report purporting it was from Kenyatta National Hospital.
He is accused of defrauding Shaitsa khamisa Abdul Latif by claiming he was in a position to supply her with diamond from Tanzania.
The accused is said to have committed the offence between 17th and 23rd February at Parklands subcounty.
The court will endeavour to deliver its ruling on 22nd August 2024 as to whether he will be released.
