A Milimani court has released four suspects after investigators confirmed that the gun recovered from their vehicle was a toy.

The court closed the miscellaneous application on June 11, 2025.

Police arrest four during night patrol

Police officers from Central Police Station stopped a vehicle during a routine patrol on June 5, 2025.

The officers searched the vehicle and recovered a white toy revolver.

They also found two Samsung S23 Ultra phones, one Samsung Galaxy A04, one iPhone 14 Pro Max, one Redmi 14e, one Infinix 913, one Oppo A5S, an AK-47 CCCP knife, and six rubber bullets.

After the search, the officers arrested Gin Ammotou, Collins Karani, Brian Mwaniki, and Jemimah Kagondo.

They later escorted the suspects to Central Police Station before presenting them in court.

Court grants investigators more time

The prosecution requested five days to complete investigations.

The magistrate allowed the request.

Meanwhile, investigators forwarded the toy gun to police headquarters for examination.

Examination identifies toy gun

The investigating officer returned to court on June 11, 2025.

He informed the court that experts had examined the recovered gun.

The examination confirmed that the exhibit was an imitation and not a real firearm.

Additionally, the investigating officer consulted the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

The ODPP then directed investigators to close the miscellaneous application and forward the police file for further review.

Magistrate closes the file

The magistrate considered the investigating officer’s application.

The court noted that investigators had completed their assignment.

Consequently, the magistrate closed the miscellaneous file.

The court also discharged all four suspects pending any further directions from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
