An activist has filed an application at the high court seeking to stop the Public participation process as gazzeted by the National Assembly in regards to the Impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Fredrick Bukeri, through city Lawyer Danstan Omari says holding public participation at the 47 county level will not only violet the right of Kenyas,but also against the constitution that guarantee every Kenyan a right to participate.
According to Bikeri,the the public participation against the Impeachment of Deputy President is supposed to be discussed across the 1,450 electoral wards which he say are closer to the public.
“For such an important and monumental motion, the public participation process should be more thoroughand this can only be achieved if the process is done in each of the 1,450 electoral wards in Kenya which are the smallest administrative “Said Bikeri in his Affidavit.
Bikeri who want the process to be stopped by the court says, by not allowing the public to participate in this monumental process,it will amount to miscarriage of justice.units.
Following the tabling of the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua by Hon Mutiso Eckomas of Kibwezi,the speaker of National Assembly Moses Wetangula directed that public participation to be held at all the counties headquarters.
“The public participation process additionally contemplates collection of views from the constituency centers. The clerks will help in the compilation at the designated centers across all the constituencies,” National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula directed o Wednesday.
