United Kingdom based civil society Justice and Equity Council has asked the national assembly and the Senate to initiate impeachment motion against the president Dr William Ruto and the entire Kenya Kwanza government.
In a long detailed press statement to the media, the organization is accusing the president Ruto, and his administration for failing to protect Kenyans from high cases of criminal activities, such as abductions and forcefully disappearance of innocent Kenyans.
According to the chairman, Sebastian Onyango,since June 25th to 31st December 2024, many innocent youths and activists have dissapeared under unclear circumstances and nothing has been done to secure their whereabouts.
“JEC-UK hereby therefore calls for the immediate impeachment of President William Samoei Ruto ,his deputy Kithure Kindiki, and the holding of fresh elections to install a more responsive executive that can focus on solving the core myriad problems facing Kenyans including unemployment millions, promoting there security, and upholding of the constitution” Said Mr Onyango.
Additional grounds for impeachment of the Kenya Kwanza administration include abuse of power, incompetence, gross misconduct and violation of the Kenyan 2010 constitution.
The UK based has also proposed for the formation of a caretaker government that will be lead by the speaker of the national assembly as they prepare for an election.
“We also call for the setting up of a caretaker government as stipulated under the 2010 constitution, to oversee the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and boundary commission lead by the Speaker of the national assembly or the chief justice so that they will provided mechanism and guide the electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that will oversee presidential elections by August 2025.”Added Onyango.
On Wednesday, interior cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen directed that all families and friends who have lost their friends or relatives under unclear circumstances to file a formal complainant to the nearest police stations so that investigation can commence.
