Felix Odhiambo Otieno alias Sammy, Derrick Odhiambo Omore, Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed and Moses Odhiambo denied the charges.
Four accused of gold fraud
The prosecution claims that the four used fraudulent tricks to obtain money from Voltex Commercial Trading Company.
The alleged offence happened on April 22, 2025, at Runda Estate in Nairobi County.
According to the charge sheet, the suspects acted with others who are not before court.
They allegedly convinced the company’s representative, Ala Bassam Hisham, to pay USD 200,000 for gold.
The prosecution says the suspects failed to deliver the gold after receiving the money.
Four face felony preparation charges
The four men also face a charge of preparing to commit a felony.
The prosecution alleges that police found them with items linked to the alleged gold scam.
The items were recovered on May 7, 2025, at Runda Estate.
Police found 25 yellowish metallic bars they claimed were gold, one weighing machine and one electric gold tester gun.
Officers also recovered documents carrying the logo of the Ministry of Mining and two small plastic bottles containing unidentified liquid.
The prosecution believes the items formed part of tools used to commit the alleged offence of cheating.
Suspects accused of impersonation
The four men also face charges of personation.
The prosecution alleges that they presented themselves as officials from government departments.
They allegedly introduced themselves to Majid Harib, Mohammed Khaleal and Alla Bassam as officials from the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Services, Directorate of Geological Surveys and Geo Information Management.
The case will proceed as the court continues hearing the allegations.
