A case in which a young man has been charged with obtaining registration by false pretenses has been pushed to May 22/2025.
This is after the prosecution informed Kahawa law court that they are yet to supply more documents to accused Abdirizak Mohammed Hassan.
“We are yet to supply some statements to the defence which were recorded from Mandera and therefore we seek for an adjournment until May 22, to furnish the same,” Prosecutors applied.
Abdirizak is favored charges of obtaining registration by false pretenses. He is said to have registered an identity card using the details of an unsuspected couple .
A Kahawa Court has granted the prosecution until Thursday next week to supply documents to a man accused of acquiring registration by pretense.
State prosecutor Kennedy Kamau requested the court for an adjournment saying there are some statements which are not yet supplied since they were to be recorded from Mandera,
“Your honor we are yet to supply the defence some statements from witnesses who hails from Mandera hence we pray the matter be adjourned until next week,” Kamau prayed to the court.
He told the court that they have supplied all other documents except the statements they will furnish the defence with by next week. He prayed for a mention date next week to confirm the same.
While admitting the adjournment of the matter, Kahawa law courts magistrate Gideon Kiage noted that some of the documents have been served while others have not and the case could not proceed,
“The adjournment is hereby allowed for the prosecution to serve the defence with the remaining witness statements,” the magistrate ruled.
The matter will be mentioned on May 22, 2025, for pre-trial and directions.
