A man involved in a robbery scheme amounting to KSH 999,000 has been detained for 10days.
The suspect, Ezekiel Mula Mutuku, appeared at the Milimani Law Courts on July 4th, 2025. He was arrested on July 2nd, 2025, for the offense of Robbery with Violence, an offense committed on June 28th, 2025, along Parklands Avenue in Parklands, Westlands Sub-County.
The victim, Patel Kashyap Kantirhaj, filed a complaint at Parklands Police Station, alleging that around 1300 hours, while driving his motor vehicle, Reg. No. KDL 266B, along Parklands Avenue after withdrawing Kshs. 999,000 in cash from his I&M Bank, about 200 meters from the scene of the incident, he was trailed by suspects in a Toyota Axio.
The suspects overtook his vehicle and then blocked him in front. Mr. Patel claimed that after stopping his motor vehicle, two men alighted from the Toyota Axio one dressed in a police uniform with a luminous green reflective jacket and a police cape peak with a white cape cover, and the other in civilian clothes.
Both approached his vehicle, forced him to open the door, searched the vehicle, and showed him something believed to be a pistol. He was hit on his shoulder during the encounter, and the suspects made away with the entire amount of Kshs. 999,000, which was wrapped in a brown envelope. They later exited towards Limuru Road.
The police launched investigations and, after reviewing CCTV footage at I&M Bank along Parklands Avenue, preliminary investigations revealed how the suspects conspired to monitor the complainant’s movement in the bank.
They later trailed him on his way out and robbed him of his money. The CCTV footage disclosed the identity of the car that led the suspect to Eldoret Town. The suspect, while in the company of four other suspects and driving a silver Toyota Axio, was intercepted by DCI officers from Parklands. The officers managed to arrest him after the others fled, abandoning the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, the officers recovered several items: two pairs of reflective plates numbered KDS 042A (for Toyota Axio, silver in color), suspected to be fake, a reflective jacket, a cape peak with a white cape cover, a Techno Camon mobile phone, four ATM cards, a SAMSHE mobile phone, and a national identity card. The suspect, the vehicle, and the other exhibits, as per the inventory, were escorted to Parklands Police Station pending further investigations.
It is believed that the vehicle was used in the commission of a series of Robberies with Violence within Parklands and the Nairobi area in general, as reported at Parklands Police Station.
The suspect is scheduled to be brought back to court on July 14th, 2025.
