The hearing of a murder case against former Eastleigh-based cop Ahmed Rashid has kicked off at Kibra Courts.
Today the prosecution arraigned two witnesses with the first prosecution witness being under witness protection claiming he fear for his life.
The second witness, the grand father of one of the deceased boys told court that he saw his grand son being shot through television news, however when asked by the defense Lawyer Danstan Omari whether he can identify the part where the grandson was shot in the purported video clip he said he could not want to see the clip.
The grandfather was shown a photo of his grandson wearing police uniform and asked whether he could identify the uniforms, he said maybe he grandson had borrowed the uniform from his friends.
He was show photos of his grandson carrying a metallic object and asked if that was a gun, he said he believes that the object was belt.
He told Court that when he went to the mortuary, the body of his grandson had six to seven gun wounds.
Further, he said that some of the bullets were retrieved from the body, however, he said the prosecution never shown him the recovered bullets in Court.
Rashid was in April charged with the murder of two teenagers- Jamal Mohammed and Mohammed Dhair Kheri- on March 31, 2017 at Amal Plaza in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
- He denied the two counts of murder before Justice Diana Kavedza and was released on a Sh200,000 bond.
The case will proceed on June 12, 2024.
