Court orders detention of two Nurses accused of splashing acid on three Police officers after storming a medical centre in Ngara after getting information that there was an illegal abortion taking place in the facility.
The two, Jonah Kipsiror Murori and Mwaura Karumbi are being investigated for the offence of unlawfully carrying on the business of a Pharmacy in premises not registered by the pharmacy and poisons board.
Brief facts of the case is that Police officers on patrol received information that an abortion was being performed at Ngara Medical Centre situated at Ngara Equity roundabout swhere they proceeded and knocked the door to be opened.
It was at this time that Jonah Kipsiror Murori allegedly appeared at the door and without any hesitation lased the officers with acid.
The acid splashed on their bodies and clothes causing the officers to sustain severe burns.
The three police officers were rushed to Nairobi West Hospital where they were admitted in High Dependency Unit.
Reinforcement police officers later rushed to the scene where a container with liquid substance and material resembling human organs.
The two suspects were also arrested with three patients among them a lady who allegedly was in the process of procuring abortion and was taken to Mbagathi hospital in serious condition.
Police are seeking 14 days detention order to keep the suspects in police cells to enable them conclude investigations before forwarding the file to the ODPP for further directions.
The Court ordered the two to be detained until Thursday 28th November, 2024 for a ruling on whether to allow the 14 days detention application or not.
