Nairobi Minority Chief Whip Peter Imwatok has been set free in Sh 2M fraud case.

Court has ruled that the prosecution failed to produce enough proof in a case where he was charged with obtaining 2.1 million shillings from a businessman.

According to Imwatok, all the charges against him were politically instigated given that he had declared interest to vie for the Nairobi governorship come 2022.

On June 2020, Imwotok was arrested and arraigned in court where he was charged with obtaining money by false pretense.

It was alleged that between February 1 and October 31, 2017 with the intent to defraud, he obtained Sh2.19 million from Fresky Bett by pretending he was in a position to sell her a piece of land.

Imwatok denied the charge and was released on bail terms pending the conclusion of the case.
