Businessman Mohamed Shabbir and his son charged with destroying Sh 35M pride-inn-hotel-properties.

Shabbir has appeared before chief magistrate Martha Mutuku of Milimani Law Courts Nairobi and denied two counts of malicious damage to property and stealing against the law.

Court was informed that on diverse dates between May 1,2020 and July 1,2020 at pride inn hotel Raphta road in Westlands within Nairobi County,jointly with another already in court willfully and unlawfully destroyed pride innhotel building ,the property of Imran Abdul Salam valued at Sh 36,668,880.

In the second count, he was charged on similar dates and place, he stole cctvs,door locks, sever equipment, furniture and fittings all valued at Sh 36,668,880.

Abdul,through his lawyer wanted the accused to be detained saying that he is a fugitive and if released on bail,he might escape.

He added that they committed the offense together with his son who was earlier charged with similar offenses.

That application was opposed by accused lawyer Cliff Ombeta who said that the accused co-operated with the Investigation Officers and he presented him in court.

The accussed son Mohammed Hasnain Shabbir Noorani was charged on August 26,2021 with similar charges.

They have been ordered to deposit cash bail of Sh1 million or an alternative bond of Sh2 million, to secure their release.

On Wednesday morning a warrant of arrest had been issued against Shabbir and later lifted.

He was supposed to appear in court to give details whether he had been processed at DCI office.
