Three men charged in ongoing gas cylinders scam.

Three men have been charged with operating a bulk liquefied petroleum Gas (LPG) storage and facility without a valid license from the authority contrary to the law.

Simon Muiruri, John Muthini and Joseph Njoka were charged that on September 1, 2021 at Menengai Engineering and petroleum Services warehouse in Industrial area within Makandara Sub-County in Nairobi County, jointly he was found operating an LPG storage and filling facility without a valid license from Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

In the second count they were charged with trading and dealing with LPG cylinders of another licensee for gain without the said licensee prior written consent contrary to the law.

On September 1, 2021 at Menengai Engineering and petroleum services warehouse in Industrial area within Makandara Sub-County in Nairobi County, jointly they were found dealing with assorted LPG cylinders to wit,96pcs empty(6kgs),2pcs empty (13kgs),2pcs empty (50 kgs),and 1 pc filled (50kgs) among others without prior written consent from the licensed owners.

They were also charged with possession of LPG seals without the brand owners’ Authority against the law.

They were charged that on September 1, 2021 at Menengai Engineering and petroleum Services warehouse in the Industrial area within Makandara Sub-County in Nairobi County, jointly you were found in possession of 980 pieces of lake oil cylinder seals without the brand owner’s authority.

“On September 1, 2021 at Menengai Engineering and Petroleum Service Warehouse in Industrial area within Makandara Sub-County in Nairobi County, at an enclosed storage and filling facility you were found transporting Liquefied petroleum Gas (LPG), cylinders using a motor vehicle registration number KAZ 826F make TOYOTA DX without a valid license from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority,” charge sheet reads.

he was released on bail.
