A man accused of killing a girl in US and ran to Kenya will now spend one month behind bars.
This is after the court granted the prosecution 30days to continue holding Kevin Adam Kinyanjui Kangethe, the alleged suspect behind the gruesome murder of his 31-year-old girlfriend in an American Airport.
The DCI produced Kevin under a miscellaneous application to detain him for 30 days at Muthaiga Police Station to enable them complete investigations.
He was arrested on January 30, 2024 at Parklands in Westlands Sub-County in Nairobi.
According to the DCI, Kevin is being investigated for the offense of first degree murder in violation of Massachusetts General Law.
He is alleged to have murdered his girlfriend Margaret Mbitu on October 31, 2023 by stabbing her multiple times in the face and neck and leaving her in a locked car in a parking garage at Boston Logan International Airport.
The DCI informed Court that they needed 30 days to conclude investigations and subsequent extradition to the United States of America.
The 40-year-old Kevin Kangethe Kinyanjui is wanted in connection with the murder of a 31-year-old Kenyan-born Margaret “Maggie” Mbitu based in Whitman, Massachusetts, whose body was discovered inside a vehicle at Boston’s Logan Airport in November 2023.
Kang’ethe had an Interpol Red Notice on his head, was arrested at a club by police who had been tipped off, and is being held at Gigiri Police Station while investigations continue.
