Former Murang’a governor Mwangi wa Iria,David Njeri and Solomon Kimani have been released on a cash bail of ten million,one Million and four million respectively by Anti corruption court.
This is after they pleaded not guilty to corruption charges before anti corruption magistrate Thomas Nzioki who also ordered the accused persons to surrender there travelling documents in court.
While seeking the accused person to be released on bond or cash bail, Defence lawyers led by Kalonzo Musyoka, Ndegwa Njiru,Peter Wanyama among others told the court that the accused person are not flight risk.
They also added that the first accused person, Mwangi wa Iria is a political leader. and a member of azimio coalition.
According to the main count, According to the charge sheet, it is alleged that the accused persons between October 21 and June 19, 2017, in Muranga county within Kenya, conspired to commit an offence of corruption in respect of an unlawful contract for the provision of media buying services awarded to Top Image Media Consultants limited by Muranga county government amounting to sh 351 million.
