Court Reporters Association of Kenya (CRAK) members  today held their elections in Nairobi.

They have brought in new faces  to the office  who will serve for 2 years as per their constitution.
 Sam Kiplagat of Daily Nation is now the new Secretary General while  Susan Muhindi  from the Star Newspaper is the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson- Dzuya Walter of Citizen, and Carolyne Kubwa of People Daily,Ghetto Radio’s Reporter Rodgers Oduor has been elected the Vice-Treasurer.
Standard journalist Kamau Muthoni was unanimously elected Chief Whip.
Present during the election was the association’s patron Supreme Court Judge Justice Isaac Lenaola.
Judge Lenaola insisted on the need to work together with Judiciary and other Court officials to ensure Justice is served to Kenyans
He said the Association will enable easier relationship between Judges,magistrates and Jounalists.
“I urge you to emphasize on Intergrity and Fairness,do not misreport or misquote judgements,”he added.
In their inaugural addresses the news leaders promised to steer the association to the next level.
They said;
“Thank you for trusting Rodgers and I with the Treasurer’s docket.We promise to work with dedication and dignity it deserves. Let’s work together to better the association ” Rodgers and Carol Said in joint statement.
“Let’s move forward and be a role model to upcoming court Reporters.”Dzuya said
“As we embark on this new chapter, I am fully aware of the responsibilities that come with it.My commitment is to serve with integrity and dedication.”Said Susan Muhindi
“Together we will work towards achieving the growth of the association and it’s members through trainings, workshops and possibly exchange programs
I feel honoured to be elected to the position and promise to give the association my all.” Sam Kiplagat.
The procedure came forth after members were vetted by a committee and regular authorities.
Elections will be conducted every 2 years according to their constitution.
