Mumias East MP charged with hatespeech.

Mumias East member of parliament Peter Kalerwa Salasia was today arreinged at Milimani law court and charged with hate speech.

He pleaded not guilty before Milimani magistrate PK Mutai who released him on cash bail of ksh 200,000 or a bond of ksh 500,000.

Through his lawyers led by Ken Echesa,Salasia who was charged under the national cohesion and integration commission laws filed an application to have his firearm reinstated following his dramatic arrest.

While delivering his ruling,the magistrate also directed that the investigation officer to appear in court on the 4th June to explain the whereabouts of the MP’s phone and whether the fireman is part of the investigation.

According to the charge sheet,PETER KALERWA SALASYA On the 10th May 2025 as unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, knowingly and intentionally published Insulting words online to wit: “Luos are number one enemies of lunga of people. We must fight back this narrative of luos or they stnk us. They are in gut but still fighting an innocent person. Ama tuwatahiri lishe while using your verified X-account (formerly twitter) Juandie @pksalasya and named Hon.
