Two people have been charged with acting as a laboratory technologist in a health institution in Kenya without registration.
John Mbathi and Virginiah Wanjiru appeared before magistrate David Ndungi and denied the charges.
They were accused that on diverse dates between March 9, 2020 and July 26, 2021 at Kenyatta National Hospital Medical Laboratories in Upper Hill, acted as a medical Laboratory Technologists without registration by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTB) as required by Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technicians and Technologists Act No.
John Mbathi was also charged with making a document without authority contrary to the law.
He is accused of unlawfully making Certificate of registration, in the name of John Mbathi Kariuki, purporting it to be a genuine certificate of registration from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
They denied the charges and were released on Sh 30,000 cash bail.
They have also been ordered to produce one contact person in court.
