A man has been charged with impersonating an Investigator of Anti-Corruption and Economic crimes Act No.3 of 2003.
Victor Mayanja Alias Joseph Kinuthia appeared before Milimani Law courts Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi and denied the charges.
Kinuthia is accused of attempting to extort ksh100, 000 from Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka. He denied three corruption charges of impersonating as an investigator and attempting to extort by threats.
Through his lawyer Onkendi, the accused pleaded with the court to be released on favorable bond terms.

The court was unformed that on March 15, 2014, he represented himself to Kenneth Magelo Lusaka, to be an investigator working with Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
In the second count, Mayanja is accused that on March 20, 2014 at Serova Panafric Hotel within Nairobi County represent himself to Haron Keitany as an investigator with EACC.
He faced a third count that on March 15, 2014, within the Republic of Kenya, with intent to extort ksh100,000 from Lusaka threatened to accuse the speaker of corruption.
The prosecution said that they intend to oppose bail terms pending the hearing of the case.
They requested for a detention of 14 days so that they can file a formal application listing the ground they intend to oppose his release on bail.
Through his lawyer Onkendi, the accused pleaded with the court to be released on favorable bond terms.
Onkendi did not oppose the request by the prosecution. He was remanded in Kileleshwa police station till September 6, 2021.
