CRAVING FOR A RIDE ON WATER AT SPEED OF OVER 150KM/HR? VISIT BEACH IN RUIRU

by FRANK MACHARIA

Are you a speed maniac? One who loves being at the fast lane? Well a getaway in Ruiru has you sorted out.

The place is called Courtesy Beach, two kilometres off Thika Superhighway at Toll station.

Several pubs border a dam there and one of the adventure offered is racing on water on jets skis.

Adventurous Kenyans visit the place for the adrenaline entertainment, especially on weekends and holidays.

For Sh500 the fun-lovers do a two-kilometre on the mind-blowing speed of up to 150Km/hr and some people clock 200Km/hr.

The investment was introduced by a businessman jay Munuve in 2016 after he realized he could earn more there than he was making in Mombasa where competition was stiff.

“I saw an opportunity to give this place a Mombasa-like thrill. I asked myself if customers were excited by slow boat rides what about a motorised one or even high-speed rides? I approached the pub owners and my wish was granted” he says.

The zeal to invest in jet skis started in Bangkok, Thailand where he took a ride and loved the machines. He bought the three machines in 2013 at Sh970, 000.

“Many people travel to Mombasa to pay Sh3, 000 for 15-minute ride on jet skis but here with Sh500 you can do a two-kilometre ride” he says.
