Liberian National charged with Sh 54M gold fraud.

Liberian national Carace Ownze Toomey before senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi where he was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony namely stealing gold bars worth USD 408229 equivalent to KSH 54.3 million, which was on transit from Liberia to Dubai at Milimani Law Courts on April 14, 2023, together with others not before the court conspired to steal gold bars which are 6.483kg valued at USD 408,229 valued at Sh 54,294,457.

Carace was charged in another count of stealing the said Gold from Shanmugam Sundar Dharmaraju which was in transit from Liberia to Dubai.

He denied the charges when he appeared before magistrate Bernard Ochoi and was detained till April 17/2023 when the matter was mentioned.

The prosecution has been directed to avail all the evidence document to the accused.
