- A lobby group based in UK now wants the Kenyan IG and DCI to resign following numerous abduction within the country.
Dubbbed Justice and Equity council,the Civil Society Group has demanded for the resignation of Douglas Kanja and Mohamed Amin following numerous cases of abductions and forcefully disappearing of innocent Kenyans.
It has accused the two top security office for failing to protect Kenyans as stipulated in the 2010 constitution adding that Kenyans have now lost trust on them.
According to Sebastian Onyango,the chairman of the council,there is need for president William Ruto to suspend the two top officers and reorganize his security agent so that Kenyans can be guaranteed there security.
“We demand with immediate effect the dismissal from services of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National police service NPS who has failed to guarantee the safety of Kenyans and its disparate citizens, we have been left with no alternative but to as ask president William Ruto to suspend the head of those officers”Read the statement.
With Kenyans now saying they don’t trust the leadership of the current security urgents,the society is now asking the national police commision to embark on the process of recruiting new officers with integrity to hold such high profile offices.
“We urge the National Police Service Commission to immediately embark on the hiring of a more competent holder of the Office of Inspector General of Police and Director of Criminal Investigation pending the outcome of any investigation that may be deemed appropriate to restore public confidence in the work of the police” Said Onyango.
On Thursday,the inspector general of police Douglas Kanja and his counterpart directorate of criminal investigation Mohamed Amin dismissed claims that Police officers are the one behind the recent numerous numbers of alleged Abductions and disappearing of innocent Kenyans.
The pressure continues to mount to the police and the DCI following the abduction of social media cartoon Gideon Kibet aka Kibet Bull or Yoko who was allegedly abducted by unknown people suspected to be police officers.
