Tension is high at the Nairobi County Assembly following the release on Bail of the Hon. Mutura after his arrest and arraignment before Court. Sources indicate the Board, chaired by Hon. Amongst those likely to be fired are Tina Madara, who is accused of telling the DCI that Hon. Eastern residents asked to make use of the Kibwezi-Migwani road.
Kibwezi People have been requested to make use of the 202 km road that will be completed in May 2022.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has said the road will improve connectivity in Eastern Kenya.
Farmers can now transport their Mangoes and other farm products easily.
Livestock for slaughter can also be easily and quickly be transported from Eastern Kenya to the rest of the Country.
The road is being constructed by Sinohydro Corporation of China at a cost of shs 21 billion.
It traverses Makueni and Kitui Counties, starting from Kibwezi Town and continues northwards through Ikutha and Mutomo to Kitui.
It proceeds to Kabati and onwards through Tulia to Migwani.
According to KeNHA, 18 km of roads within the urban centers where the road passes have been tarmacked.
This has improved trade.
KeNHA said the road is part of the Northern Corridor Transport Improvement Project.
“It will cater for through traffic from Mombasa via Kibwezi to Moyale and into Ethiopia on a friendly direct alignment and avoids the need to pass through Nairobi. The sections from Isiolo to Marsabit and Moyale were recently completed and that between Kibwezi and Isiolo is the missing link of which the project road forms the first section,” said Engineer Kung’u Ndung’u the KeNHA Director General.
He said the existing road will be upgraded to an International Trunk Road standard with a 7 m wide single carriageway and 2m wide shoulders on each side and shall include construction of 16 bridges.
Residents of the larger Eastern region had in the past complained of lack of bridges.
Currently, there are several interchanges at Kibwezi and Kitui Town, Social Infrastructure entailing a truck parking with roadside amenities in Kibwezi and Kitui.
Several towns in Kitui and Kibwezi have witnessed improved growth as a result of the road.
Construction of the sections from Isiolo to Marsabit and Moyale were recently completed.
The road between Kibwezi and Isiolo is now the missing link to bitumen standard and the project road forms the first section of this link.
After the completion of the 74-kilometer Kitui- Mutomo -Kibwezi road, residents took to social Media in November 2021 to celebrate.
“The 74 kilometers stretch from Kitui town to Mutomo town was always a sad story when we had to travel out of Mutomo or have to get back to Mutomo from Kitui. The dust, the holes… and when it rained there was a problematic bridge and sometimes vehicles would have to camp there till the next day when the water levels are manageable,” posted Sarah Kinyanjui a native of the area on her facebook.
She said the other side from Mutomo town to Ikutha on your way to Kibwezi was also full of issues.
“I have not joined the #UhuruDelivers bandwagon but I was just grateful that after over 20 years, God has finally answered the prayers of former little me then and many others that we had to endure bad roads in this very familiar territory to some of us,” she said.
Engineer Ndungu’u added that the road will open up the region to improved trade, tourism and enable growth of urban centers.
Kyee Mbatha an environmentalist commonly known as captain green has started has launched an Organization dubbed “My Green Institution Community” with the aim of planting One Million trees in the next 5 years.
Together with other stakeholders, Mbatha launched the initiative at St. Augustine Secondary school Mlolongo Town.

The the organization targets to grow 1 Million Trees by year 2027 in Learning, Social and Religious institutions within
Machakos County to fight Climate Change.
Prior to this, Mbatha has been leading a series of tree planting
exercises in education and government institutions in a drive aimed at increasing forest cover in the country.
“For the last 8 years after my graduation, I have been using 30% of my total income from my small business to purchase and donate trees in several institutions,” he said.
Mbatha said while planting trees in these institutions, he
used that opportunity to create environmental awareness on climate change and why growing trees is one of the most effective ways to deal with current climate crisis.
“So far I have donated over 50,000 seedlings and I believe that we shall hit our 1 million target now that I have engaged my friends who we share the same vision” he added.
The CBO Treasurer Faith Koitee a graduate in soil science said that she felt it was necessary to join hands with Captain Green since the effects of change were evident all over the country.
She said many counties had been experiencing low rains that had led to death of both livestock and Wild animals due to lack of food.
Kyee a 33 year old youth holds a degree in Bsc. Ecotourism Management under the faculty of Environment and Resources Development from Egerton university. He is an Ecopreneur dealing with
solar powered CCTV cameras and solar flood lights. He urged the Kenyan youths to venture into businesses that do not harm the Planet.
“At times I disagree with friends and family members as they feel that i give too much attention to the
environment. It baffles me when I see a grown up person pay ksh 10,000 bill at a pub. Such an amount
can be used to plant at least 100 trees! Plants are carbon sinks. We need many of them to absorb the
large amounts of CO2 released daily globally” said Kyee
Mr Joshua Mutuku an Engineering Student said that they had mapped various institutions within
Machakos County where the organization intends to grow trees. He said that they will lobby different
leaders and organizations for support to make sure that their CBO hits the set target
Engineers Board of Kenya(EBK) has launched an official stamp to ensure that proper systems are in place for professional engineering services.

“The Engineers Act, 2011 and establishment of EBK provides robust regulation of professional engineering services, public safety and welfare,”he added.
According to Mwongera,This is the second tool the Board is issuing out to the Engineers after the successful launch and issuance of Engineers ID in the road towards the full implementation of the Act and Rules.

He added that as the country implements Vision 2030 and the ‘Big Four’ Agenda there will be increased demand of engineers and engineering services in the midterm and long-term period.
Mwongera said that the Board is committed to fast track the registration of qualified and competent professional engineers to ensure that the country’s demand and supply of professional engineers is at equilibrium in these periods.
“It is in this regard that the Board has set a strategic intent to increase the number of registered professional engineers from the current 3,000 to 10,000 in the next five years,”he added.
City Bloggers face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty: Police say
Two city bloggers Edgar Obare and Richard Ngethe have been arrested over Sh 10M fraud and extortion.
They were arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for allegedly seeking to defraud and extort 100,000 U.S dollars from a wealthy Somali businessman in the oil and gas industry in Africa, the police stated that there are three other criminal bloggers on their radar.
“We cannot disclose who other bloggers are and how we will be able to pounce on them. That is a matter being investigated by the DCI,“said Mr. Kikwali, SSP.
The Somali businessman stated that the fraudsters have been on his case stating that they have damning evidence on his underhand dealings and bribery allegations since he won a major oil tender.
His lawyer stated that “We are happy that these so-called bloggers have been arrested and therefore bringing closer to this very torturous matter. My client has been tormented for far too long.”
Their illegal actions were deemed by the Criminal Investigations Department, to be in violation of Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act, 2018, which states that;
“A person who knowingly publishes information that is false in print, broadcast, data or over a computer system, that is calculated or results in panic, chaos, or violence among citizens of the Republic, or which is likely to discredit the reputation of a person commits an offense and shall on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding five million shillings or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years, or to both.”
Obare and Nthenge could face up to 10 years in prison.
This current arrest is not Obare’s first brush with Kenyan authorities. In July 2020, he was arrested and questioned for his titillating exposés of scandals involving well-known Kenyan personalities shared via his Instagram Stories.
This arrest come in the wake of another complaint on the same to the Police, this time by a reputable and respected top Private Jet Company – Glo JET International Corporation, a United States of American Charter Company with a Regional Office in Nairobi.
The Bloggers have been on the offensive on Glo-JET stating that the company is engaged in “Gold SCAM”. They have written articles and spread rumors on the same, as they attack the character of the top leadership of the company.
We visited Glo-JET offices at the Plaza to verify some of these allegations. This is what the head of Media Relations said, “Glo-JET is not your ordinary company.
First, being an international company, we respect the law of the land here in Kenya and in all the forty-six (46) global worldwide offices. We have a reputation to protect. We are above board. We don’t trade in Gold. We don’t transact in Gold.
We are just a luxurious charter company. What the bloggers are writing is utterly false. They have been demanding we pay huge amounts of funds while threatening to write bad things about our company. Of course, they did write since the company did not part with the money. So, our lawyers and the police are dealing with the issue.” Said Yasmin Baraka – Head of PR at Glo-JET.
“Hassan, you work for a fantastic media house. And you can read. These fake bloggers even claim somebody a “Mr., Obure” is a director of the company which is false. You have the Registrar of Company database to confirm that Glo—JET is owned by Glo-JET USA and one Kenyan. This is public information.
They keep tying a Mr. Obure to our company. Who is this Obure? He doesn’t work here. We know nothing about all these things being written. Honestly, it’s annoying to keep lying. Do they want us to close the Kenyan office and move the African Headquarters to South Africa? Where will all these 500 people go? Come on, Kenyan can do better and the police need to crack the whip., ” said a visibly angry Yasmin.
She continued. “A case in point is some murder that occurred around our building, they keep dragging the name of the company which has nothing to do with all these things they are saying. Doing business here in Africa is so hard because of such theatrical drama. You can’t just write filth of that nature in USA and Europe. They will pick you up.”
A closer review of the database from the registrar of companies indicates that indeed Glo-JET is owned by USA and one Kenyan. Equally, the company is so strict on compliance issues before they transact business. They have even issued warnings to potential Gold BUYERs who plan to use their Charter to transport the commodity Ref: https://www.glo-jet.com/gold-scam-fraud-alert . See below:
SCAM/FRAUD ALERT
a. ) Customers seeking to use GLO-JET INTERNATIONAL CORP charters for gold shipments should independently (first) conduct thorough due diligence and background checks on their suppliers to be aware of the credibility/authenticity of the persons behind such supplies before placing requests for a quote with Glo-JET.
b. ) This REALISTIC CAUTIONARY STATEMENT is due to the fact that GOLD FRAUD AND SCAM is annoyingly on the rise hence the need to cushion our well-meaning customers from being victims.
c. ) Glo-JET International Corp IS NOT in the business of gold mining and/or trading, clearing/handling. Neither is the company interested in venturing into such initiatives. As such, Customers are advised that Glo-JET SHALL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY on fully paid charters that have not been utilized – and therefore canceled by the Department of Legal Affairs/Office of the Company Secretary.
d. ) Please take note that our contractual obligation lies in chartering goods that have been cleared by the respective Government Authorities from where we take off. Club Members [https://www.glo-jet.com/club-membership] should seek guidance with the LOCAL EMBASSIES AND CONSULATES on legitimate/legal steps approved by the said authorities for such transactions.
e. ) Goods/Cargo must officially be cleared through government-approved channels before involving GLO-JET for charter and related services.
f. ) If a Club Member (https://www.glo-jet.com/club-membership) detects glaring acts of FRAUD, we urge that they send an e-mail to [email protected] so that immediate action can be taken.
The Company also has an RC Form 401 (a) that must be filled by all persons planning to use the services of the company. Ref: https://www.glo-jet.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/RC-FORM-401-a.pdf .
We can confirm that Glo-JET has been following the right procedures while conducting its business. They are not involved in SCAM or any related FRAUD as depicted by the scrupulous lethal bloggers who use their fake sites to attack reputable companies.
Some other companies who have faced the wrath of these bloggers are Tabitha Karanja’s company Keroche, Jimi Wanjigis Kwacha Group of Companies and Peter Munga’s Equity.
A top official from The Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry who was contacted stated that “It takes time and money to build a company such as Safaricom, EABL, Equity, Glo-JET, Meriton, Brookside Mild, etc.
It is painful that bloggers and scandalous people have resorted to extortion. Very sad. These are companies we respect and they are our members. We shall protect them at all cost.” Said the top official who sought anonymity.
Investigations done by this reporter revealed that over ten (10) websites/blogs have been created by these persons under arrest to criminally extort money from wealthy businessmen in Kenya and East Africa as a whole. Some of these websites are
www.kenyanmarketintelligence.com,
www.theafricancriminologyjournal.
www.bnn.ke, www.edgarobare.github.io
All these are run by pseudo names but still belong to Edgar Obare, Robert Alai, Cyprian Nyakundi and Richard Nthenge – who we can confirm are scammers and fraudsters running fake blogging establishments. It is an extortion network.
The Police revealed to our reporter that these bloggers target powerful women over alleged sex scandals and wealthy businessmen.
“Am sure many more arrests will happen. Am also sure that many other complaints will be coming. Anybody who has been attacked by these people should report the matter to DCI Headquarters.” Said the Head of the Police who has been following up with the matter.

Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA) has partnered with Huduma Kenya to deepen access to Authority services.
The authority through its Chairman Richard Kiplagat, says the move will ease the burden of accessing the service and follow-ups by claimants at their county.
“The successful implementation of this framework will lead to enhanced access to UFAA services by members of the public and therefore facilitate UFAA in meeting its reunification mandate, “said Kiplangat while speaking to the press at a Nairobi Hotel.
He said the collaboration will also strengthen Huduma Kenya’s shared services model that enhances cost-effectiveness and efficiency in public service delivery.
“In addition, we are operationalizing a contact center solution to enhance customer experience. The call center solution is purposed to hand hold claimants through the reunification journey, “he added.
UFAA at the same time announced that so far the surrendered assets have grown exponentially from Sh 300 million in 2014 to Sh 20.3billion in cash and one billion units of shares.
Kiplangat said they have received cumulative claims amounting to Sh 1.2 Billion from 17,469 claimants so far.
The Authority is also doing away with manual filing of claims to facilitate easier processing and disbursement of unclaimed financial assets in cash, bonds, stocks and other financial assets.
In place of this manual system, an online system has been developed and deployed to facilitate filing, processing and disbursement of unclaimed financial assets to rightful owners and beneficiaries.
UFAA is also deploying an online holders’ reporting and surrenders system that will make it easier for holders to submit and surrender unclaimed financial assets in their possession.
In a couple of days, the deadline to surrender unclaimed financial assets qualifying as at June
2021 will lapse. Holders are obligated to file a report concerning the assets to the Authority on or before the first day of November of each year. The reports are for assets qualifying in the accounting year ending on the thirtieth day of June.
To ensure that the compliance rate by holding institutions grows, the UFAA has also partnered with the Office of the Auditor General to facilitate audits of public sector agencies on compliance with unclaimed financial assets reporting and surrender.
The UFA Act empowers the Authority to examine records to determine whether the holder of unclaimed financial assets has complied with its provisions. The law also provides for timelines within which unclaimed financial assets in holders’ possession are to be reported to UFAA.
UFAA is an authority created under the Unclaimed Financial Assets Act, No 40 of 2011 to administer unclaimed financial assets. UFAA’s primary focus is to receive unclaimed financial assets from the holders, safeguard the assets and reunite the assets to their rightful owner.
The authority says that a survey commissioned to assess the quantum of unclaimed financial assets holding in the market show complacency on part of holders. The survey reported that an approximate Ksh241billion in unclaimed assets is being held by about 490, 000 institutions.
