Six men have been charged at Milimani Law Courts with Sh 2Billion gold fraud.
They are said to have attempted to defraud a foreigner.
The six: Muke Wa Mansoni Didier , Patrick Otieno Oduar, Brian Otiende Anyanga, Makeishi Kiogi Kabete, Kenn Omondi Kiboi and Joshua Odhiambo Engade appeared before Hon. Nazushi where they denied the charges.
The court heard that the accused persons attempted to defraud Halid Bin Yaacob on diverse dates between 19 and December 27,2023 at unknown place within Nairobi County.
The prosecution opposed their release on bail saying that Muke is a Congolese National and Therefore a flight risk.
The prosecution said that they have not completed the investigations into this matter..
They added that after the arrest the suspects allies have been threatening the complainant and therefore there is need to deny them bond.
The prosecution argued that Muke is facing another matter in court.
“The gold bars that were recovered are yet to be subjected to the experts for analysis Added prosecution while requesting for more time.
In court the accused persons denied the charges and the prosecution objected their release on bond.
The prosecution told the court in an affidavit that the accused persons were a flight risk and they were still going on with some investigations.
They told the court that they’re yet to arrest more suspects who are accomplises to the accused.
The magistrate denied them bond and directed that the matter be mentioned on January 9 for further directions.
